MISSION STATEMENT: We the people of the Chilhowee R-IV School District believe that this school exists for the educational benefit of all students. Inherent in this belief is the belief that all students are capable of acquiring the skills necessary to become productive members of society. We believe that we must continually strive to further develop and implement effective methods to enhance student achievement. We believe that the educational process is a partnership including the student, family, and professional members of the educational staff.

Chilhowee the School District: The Chilhowee R-IV School District resides within the city limits of the rural Missouri community of Chilhowee. Chilhowee is a small, rural farming community in West Central Missouri with a population of 329 people according to the 2000 census. The community consists of three churches, a grocery store, post office, bank, feed and grain company, gas service station, beauty shop, auto repair shop, used farm equipment dealership, National yellow pages, restaurant, tavern, metal fabrication shop, funeral home, and a variety of other small businesses. The community of Chilhowee was once a coal mining community. The town is located eighteen miles southwest of Warrensburg, Missouri, location of Central Missouri State University. Other location indicators are that the community is twenty-two miles northwest of Clinton, which is near the Truman Dam reservoir. The nearest metropolitan area is Kansas City, which is about fifty miles west. The state capitol of Jefferson City is ninety miles to the east of Chilhowee. The 2000 census reported that 97.5% of the population was white. 30% of the population within the school district is under 25 years of age with 19% of the population being 60 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years old. The average family consists of 3 people. 34% of all families have children under 18 years of age. In addition non-family households make up 29% of all households. The average household consists of 2.5 people.
